The Prudent Retiree - June 23, 2023

This one is bittersweet. Judy Hartong has been my trusted colleague since day one of the Horseman Group. She has been essential to our success. We would never have built our client first service commitment without her. All of us are beneficiaries of her dedication and extraordinary hard work.

The bitter – Judy is retiring at the end of the month. I’ve been reluctant to acknowledge that for the past two months. I’ve spent nearly every day with her for decades. Her professionalism and care for you has always been foremost.

The sweet – Judy has earned this. She is going to enjoy time with her husband, Mike, and the rest of her family. Part of me hopes she misses us so much she’ll want to come back. Seriously, I want Judy to find joy in all that she does. My life has been blessed by our friendship.

Judy has spent the past two months preparing for her departure. Lu Ingersoll and Karen Mathews, who have been with Horseman Group for years and in the industry for more than twenty years, are capable and ready to take over. We won’t miss a beat. Please send Judy an email or call and wish her well.

The market remains in an uptrend. News and current events remain largely in a downtrend. As always, we listen to the market and will maintain our current equity allocations.

I will be on vacation the week after Judy leaves. Her absence won’t fully hit me until I’m back on July 10th and she’s not there. Thanks Jude.
