The Prudent Retiree - September 26, 2023

Sometimes there is just nothing new to say. We’ve had strong returns this year as the market has moved higher. We’re maintaining our fully invested allocation. We’ve written about what’s good and what’s bad in the economy. We’ve discussed what is uncertain and the potential risks to stocks. Nothing new to say about inflation, jobs, the Fed, Ukraine, China, recessions, or politics. News has been on a repeat loop all summer longer. The market’s reaction has been a choppy holding pattern the past several months.

Chicago is one of Rock and Roll’s legendary acts. They had a distinctive sound with the addition of horns to the usual rock band set up. They had numerous hit songs from the late 1960s through the 80s. The band still tours, and their music is a staple on Classic Rock stations. Chicago was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016. “25 or 6 to 4” is about looking at the clock while trying to stay awake all night. It’s been rumored that the lyrics describe an LSD trip. The song’s incredible guitar solo was played by the virtuoso, Terry Kath, one of my favorites. He tragically died in his prime while cleaning his gun.

The writer sings about, “staring blindly into space.” That is something Prudent Retiree never does. We are always looking for possible risk that can negatively impact the market. It is never Saturday in the park when it comes to caring for your money. Though, we have nothing new to say, listening to the market dictates that we stay invested.
