I’ll probably feel a whole lot better—when the market turns up, when inflation trends down, when the Fed stops raising rates, when the election is past, when gas prices drop, when the war in Ukraine ends, when supply chain issues resolve, when the recession is over, when the Cleveland Guardians win the World Series, when the Browns win the Super Bowl. I’m certain I will feel a whole lot better when these happen. Most, we share as investors and I’m sure you have your own to add.

Let’s stick with the market. The market will turn when the Fed stops raising rates. That will happen when Fed voting members feel a whole lot better because the economy has weakened and inflation has peaked. I’d feel even better if we knew when. That is something no one knows. “When” is guesswork. Watch the Fed and listen to the market. Until then our allocations for qualified accounts will remain at least 50% out of the market. We are hedging the risk and will feel a whole lot better when our cash goes back into equities at lower prices.

The Byrds were an early rock supergroup from the 1960s. You know many of their songs such as “Mr. Tambourine Man” (Bob Dylan) and “Turn, Turn, Turn.” I thought they were cool as a teenager. They became members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991.

Know that we will continue to monitor the economy and markets and make changes when appropriate. Eventually, we will probably feel a whole lot better.
