The Prudent Retiree - January 28, 2021

Dave Mason, a prominent singer/guitarist of the 1960s and 70s recorded this song in 1977. He was a founding member of the Rock Hall of Fame band, Traffic, before embarking on his solo career. He actually made an album with Mama Cass. Some of you remember her.

Disagreement is the rule of the day in these United States. Mason sang, “there ain’t no good guy, there ain’t no bad guy.” Sadly, much of the country doesn’t feel that way. We seem to be a cauldron of anger right now. Prudent Retiree encourages you to keep events in perspective when it comes to your portfolio. Don’t take a wrong turn because of bluster coming from television, radio or social media.

There is always disagreement on the direction of the market. Extreme predictions abound. That is why our strategy is listen to the market. The market’s interpretation of news and events is all that matters. The noise around us makes listening to the market difficult, but that is how to avoid costly wrong turns. Our risk management model remains positive on stocks. Do not be surprised if we experience a short-term volatility correction. One is overdue. Maintain current allocations.
