The Prudent Retiree - January 12, 2021

Dr. King spoke those words in Memphis in the last speech he gave. Tragically, he was assassinated the next day. His voice was silenced, but his wisdom still inspires us. It’s not easy to process what we’ve experienced the past week no matter your political leanings. If there is such a thing as a serious circus, we are all sitting in the Big Top. Dr. King also said “If we do not learn to live together as friends, we will die apart as fools.”

Market metrics remain positive. Expect some near-term choppiness. We most likely have some difficult days ahead and there will be headlines galore. Battle lines have been drawn. We encourage you to maintain your current allocations as our risk management model remains positive. Remember—don’t confuse portfolios with politics. What matters is how the market interprets events.
