The Prudent Retiree - What's Going On Part XXVI

Jerry Garcia was born on August 1st. He died on August 9th. The Days Between—the time between his birth and death—is when Deadheads remember and celebrate his musical legacy. Many recall the first and last time they saw Jerry and their favorite Dead shows. The U.S Senate paused for a moment of silence when his passing was announced. Fans who weren’t born when Garcia was alive enjoy the music today. Jerry lives on.

Who is not confused right now? The country is in the throes of a divisive, vindictive political battle. A long overdue recognition of racial injustice has led to peaceful protests which sadly have often devolved into violence and destruction. The vagaries of COVID-19 have us worried and stressed. No one knows how the virus will progress. Will schools open? Is my job safe? Will the government continue providing support? Is it safe to resume normal life? Is my family okay? The list goes on. Our nation is confused.

Prudent Retiree does not have solutions for the problems. We are thankful for the opportunity to work with each of you to safeguard your investments and income. That is our responsibility and there is no confusion about our commitment. We continuously monitor the market on your behalf and weigh the good and the bad. Right now, the good is pushing the market higher. We again encourage you to maintain current equity allocations. We are listening to the music of the market and will inform you when circumstances change.

Jerry sang “Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.” Prudent Retiree believes this is the way to avoid the confusion that is all around and instead follow where the market is headed.
