The Prudent Retiree - What's Going On Part XXII

The Allman Brothers are on the Mount Rushmore of Rock and always featured on my playlist. My family vacationed last week in South Haven, Michigan. We wore masks and stayed safe. I did keep up with the market throughout the day. Relaxing led me to ponder one of the world’s pressing unanswered questions. Who is the greatest slide guitar player of all time—Duane Allman or Derek Trucks? Duane was the founder of the band who tragically died young in a motorcycle crash. Derek is the nephew of the band’s original drummer who joined the Allmans as a teenage prodigy. Both incredible.

We’ve grown weary as we continue to wonder. The COVID-19 numbers seem to have taken a turn for the worse. How bad will they get? Will there be a vaccine soon?  What will this do to the economy and jobs? Will schools open? Who will win the upcoming elections for President and Congress? What will happen after the next election? Will there really be sports this year? As much as we want answers, we are just going to have to keep wonderin’ longer.

Now to Prudent Retiree’s focus. The Market. We don’t have to keep wonderin’ no longer. The market gives us a clear answer everyday. We just have to listen and not overlay our opinions on the market. The market has had an unprecedented surge since the end of March. There is a laundry list of potential serious unknowns and risks right now. What we do know is that the Fed is providing all-out support. Market metrics indicate that conditions are positive. Continue to maintain your equity allocations.
