The Prudent Retiree - What's Going On Part II

What’s going on in the markets is very real fear about the impact of Coronavirus on the global economy. You all know about Coronavirus. The market does not like uncertainty—hence, the recent sell off.

We don’t know yet how this plays out. Certainly there may well be some slowdown in global growth. That does not mean PANIC. As always, we will listen to the market and manage risk appropriately.

Prudent Retiree believes the market is experiencing a pull back/correction, not a crash. Perspective is called for. Equity markets were up more than 20% in 2019. There were two occasions in 2019 when the market temporarily corrected about 7%. The market in 2020 is essentially flat as I write. Not terrible. We take Coronavirus seriously, we are concerned, but we advise maintaining your current portfolio.

That is “What’s going on.”
