Happy New Year to all. We celebrate the birthday this month of Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King emphasized education as critical to an individual’s growth and a nation’s progress. His commitment and courage certainly made America greater.

His thoughts on education can help us analyze the market. There is always a lot of noise which makes it difficult to discern the real from the unreal. What matters is the action of the market itself. Right now, conditions for the market appear to remain favorable. Don’t buy into the fear of imminent doom. Prudent Retiree encourages you to remain invested. We’ll continue to sift and weigh the evidence to watch for change.

Dr. King’s vision was one of equality, justice and hope. He hoped for compassion and inclusiveness. He was a man of dignity—passionately committed to his cause and beliefs. He was a man of dignity—no cheap theatrics, verbal invective or violence. 2018 will also mark the fifty-year anniversary of Dr. King’s murder. It’s impossible to know what our country lost, but we can remember and apply what he taught.
