“Reality Itself is Too Twisted.”

          -Hunter S. Thompson

Hunter S. Thompson was an American author, famous for what became known as “Gonzo” journalism. He wrote often about the seaminess of the drug world and politics. He was most famous for his articles in Rolling Stone magazine and the book, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. He was controversial, hard hitting and never in between. Both loved and loathed. Many would say Thompson’s own twisted reality led to his death by self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was gonzo to the end. I’m sure he would consider today’s zany world to be a veritable feast.

Now, on to the market. It seems like we are in a twisted reality. Politics-bad. North Korea-bad. Russia-bad. Hurricanes-bad. Terrorism-bad. Congressional inaction-bad. Market-up, up, and up.

The only reality that matters to investors is the direction of the market. Companies are profitable. Inflation and interest rates are low. These factors chalk up to a favorable market reality, twisted or not.

Danger always lurks with the market. We diligently monitor and listen. If it starts to go “gonzo,” we’ll recommend appropriate action. For now, enjoy the coming of fall and the current market reality.
