The Prudent Retiree - June 2017
“The Truth Does Not Change According to Our Ability to Stomach It.”
Flannery O’Connor was an American author noted for her depictions of the South. She is most remembered for the short story collection, A Good Man Is Hard to Find. Based on the many conversations we’ve had with so many of you over the past couple months, the consensus is that a good President might be even harder to find. We probably should expand that to D.C. creatures in general. In and out of office.
The market seemingly does not care about the chaos. It continues to chug higher. Think the little engine that could. The Fed raised interest rates today. Not enough to get an acceptable return at the bank. The stock market will continue to have appeal. Employment and the economy are slowly, but steadily improving. Inflation remains in check. The biggest challenge remains stagnant wages- only slight improvement in workers’ paychecks.
In answer to the many questions about the never-ending D.C. drama, Prudent Retiree can only answer- who knows? Up to this point, it hasn’t mattered to the market and we are not going to argue. Stay fully invested according to your investment risk profile. When change is warranted, we’ll let you know.
